From vibe-coded prototype to production: the 25-point checklist
Your AI-built prototype works in the demo. These 25 checks, grouped into ten areas, cover what usually needs attention before real users and real money arrive.
ReadReplit Agent builds and runs full-stack apps inside a Replit workspace. A common shape is a React front end with a Node.js and Express or Python back end, a PostgreSQL database provisioned by Replit, keys held in the Secrets tool and hosting through Replit Deployments. The workspace configuration lives in the .replit file, sometimes alongside replit.nix.
Replit takeovers often involve an app that runs in the workspace but fails or sleeps once deployed, a database schema changed by the Agent without migrations, or sign-in tied to Replit Auth that the owner now wants to replace. Others are simply large: the Agent kept adding features until nobody could tell which ones work.
Invite the developer to the Repl or your Replit team so they work under their own account. Connect the project to a GitHub repository through the Git pane, which gives both of you a history and an exit route. Note which deployment type you use and whether the production database holds real customer data. A quick pass with the secret leak scanner on the repository shows whether any keys escaped the Secrets tool.

ReadUse team invites and limited roles instead of shared passwords, service by service, and know exactly how to remove access and rotate keys when the work ends.
ReadUsually, yes. The code itself is standard, but anything relying on Replit Auth, Replit's database or the Secrets pane needs an equivalent elsewhere. Say whether you want to stay on Replit or leave, as the scope differs.
They should be in the Secrets tool, which exposes them as environment variables. If keys appear directly in source files, mention it so they can be moved and rotated.
