Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how TakeoverWork uses cookies and similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage. It adds detail to our Privacy Policy.

What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between pages or visits, such as the fact that you are signed in. Local storage is a similar feature that lets a page save data in your browser. Data in local storage stays on your device and is not sent to our server automatically.
Some cookies are set by us ("first-party"). Others are set by services we use, such as Google ("third-party").
The types we use
Essential
These are needed for the site to work and to keep it secure. They do not need consent, and you cannot switch them off through our settings.
| Purpose | Set by | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Keeping you signed in and protecting your session | TakeoverWork via Supabase | Authentication cookies whose names begin with sb- |
| Remembering your cookie and privacy choices | TakeoverWork and our consent tool | A consent cookie or local storage entry |
| Bot protection on sign-up, publishing, first messages, reports and the AI tool | Cloudflare Turnstile | Short-lived security tokens |
| Security and traffic protection | Cloudflare | Security cookies such as __cf_bm |
Analytics
These help us understand which pages and tools are useful and where people get stuck, so we can improve the site. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and wherever the law requires it, they run only after you consent.
| Service | What it does | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Counts visits, pages and events. Uses Google Consent Mode, so without consent it does not set analytics cookies | _ga, _ga_<id> |
| PostHog | Product analytics, such as whether people finish posting a listing | Cookies or local storage entries beginning with ph_ |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Privacy-focused page view counts | Does not use cookies |
Advertising
Some content pages show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and, if you allow it, personalise ads based on your activity on this and other sites. Examples of Google advertising cookies include __gads, __gpi and IDE, although Google may change the names it uses.
In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and wherever the law requires it, personalised advertising cookies are used only with your consent. If you do not consent, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which can use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement where the law allows. In the United States, advertising cookies may count as "sharing" personal information under some state laws; you can opt out through the same settings.
Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Local storage used by the site and tools
We use your browser's local storage, not cookies, for features that only need to remember things on your device:
- Draft listings. If you start posting a takeover before signing in, the draft is saved in local storage so you do not lose it. It is cleared after you publish or discard it.
- Production Readiness Checklist. Your ticked items are saved so you can come back later.
- Other tools. Some tools remember your last inputs or settings on your device. The Secret Leak Scanner does not store what you paste.
- Preferences. Your light or dark theme and similar display choices.
This data stays in your browser. If local storage is blocked or cleared, the features still work but will not remember your progress.
How to manage cookies
- Our settings. Use the privacy and cookie settings link in the footer to accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies, or to change your mind later.
- Google ad settings. You can manage personalised ads from Google in your Google account's ad settings.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and local storage. Blocking essential cookies will stop sign-in from working.
- Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of advertising "sharing" for that browser.
Withdrawing consent does not affect cookies already used before you withdrew it, but no new analytics or personalised advertising cookies will be set after that.
