Glide and Softr app takeovers: finish a spreadsheet-powered app

Glide and Softr turn existing data into apps without code. Glide builds mobile-friendly apps on Glide Tables, Google Sheets, Airtable and other sources, with computed columns handling logic. Softr builds client portals and internal tools on Airtable, Google Sheets, its own Softr Databases and other sources, using user groups and conditional visibility to decide who sees what.

Where these projects get stuck

The most serious issue is data exposure: an app that only hides rows in the layout while still sending them to every user. Spreadsheet sources slow down as they grow and hit row or update limits on the current plan. Computed columns chain into each other until nobody can follow the logic, and actions or workflows connected to email or payment tools fail silently.

What to include in a listing

Name the platform, plan and data source, and roughly describe the size of your tables in words, for example several thousand customer rows. Explain who uses the app, such as clients, staff or contractors, and what each group should be able to see and edit. Invite the developer as an app collaborator and share the underlying base or sheet separately, with edit rights only where needed.

Frequently asked questions

Is hiding a column in the interface enough to keep data private?

No. Hidden components can still load the underlying data. In Glide, row owners control which rows reach a user's device. In Softr, data restrictions and user group rules control access. A specialist should confirm these are set correctly.

Our app outgrew Google Sheets. What are the options?

Glide Tables and Big Tables, Softr Databases, or a database such as Airtable or PostgreSQL. The right move depends on record counts, editing patterns and integrations, which is a good question to put in your listing.
